The BBC has released the trailer for series 2 of World on Fire.

A lot of familiar faces return from series 1 in addition to some new ones, as the story follows World War II across Britain, France, Germany and India.

We've got The Inbetweeners' Blake Harrison back as Stan, joined by fellow returnees in Cucumber's Cel Spellman as Joe, The Crown's Lesley Manville as Robina, The Little Mermaid's Jonah Hauer-King as Harry, Eryk Biedunkiewicz as Jan, Zofia Wichlacz as Kasia, Julia Brown as Lois, and Eugénie Derouand as Henriette.

Meanwhile, we've got Line of Duty and Quiz's Mark Bonnar as Sir James Danemere, Runaways' Gregg Sulkin as David, Resident Evil's Ahad Raza Mir as Rajib, and Miriam Schiweck as Marta.

As we see in the trailer, parts of series 2 will see RAF bombers try and destroy the German bombers looking to destroy Manchester, while other plotlines will see British troops join the Indian Sappers and Australian Diggers to fight what the synopsis calls "a very different kind of combat."

Harrison said a while back that he is genuinely surprised that people still watch The Inbetweeners, despite it coming to an end in 2010.

"You'd be amazed at how young some kids are when they do watch it," he said. "I've seen it. People come up to me, 'He loves the show.' I'm like, 'How old is he?' 'He's nine,'" Blake said. "I'm [thinking], 'What are you doing? You're not being a good parent.'

"I'm surprised it's still being watched now, if I'm honest. We filmed it in 2007 with series one, and the fact that 14 years later, it's still being shown and there are still teenagers now watching it and enjoying it... that to me is really surprising."

World on Fire series 2 will consist of six hour-long episodes, and will drop on BBC One and BBC iPlayer soon. Series 1 has returned to the service and can be streamed in full now.
