‘WWE SmackDown’ & ‘Monday Night Raw’ Still On In New Locations With No Audience; No Word Yet On ‘WrestleMania’ – Update

UPDATED with Monday Night Raw news: WWE has become the latest major U.S. sports league to adjust live events as companies across the country race to slow the spread of coronavirus. After the professional wrestling organization moved Friday’s (March 13) SmackDown, which airs live on Fox, and canceled the live audience, it has done the same with USA Network’s Monday Night Raw.

The WWE said today that Monday’s episode of Raw will air live as regularly scheduled but like SmackDown will take place at the WWE training facility in Orlando, with only essential personnel in attendance. The Raw episode had been scheduled to take place in Pittsburgh.

There is no word yet on plans for WrestleMania on April 5 in Tampa, FL.

“We are putting contingency plans in place in the event that upcoming WWE shows are cancelled by government officials, civil authorities and/or local venues,” WWE said Thursday. “We are monitoring the situation closely and as always we will take the necessary precautions to protect the health and wellness of our fans, performers and employees.”

WWE’s announcement follows the decisions by the NBA, NHL, Major League soccer and pro tennis and golf organizations to suspend their seasons, and Major League Baseball’s decision to cancel spring training. The NCAA men’s basketball tournament has also been canceled.
