Young child in ‘medical distress’ dies in Pompano Beach, Broward deputies say

A young child died Thursday after being brought to the hospital by Pompano Beach paramedics who responded to a home where he was reported to be in “medical distress,” according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

The call came in to Broward County emergency dispatchers around 9:45 a.m. Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue crews found the boy, whose age was not available, at the home in the 1900 block of Northeast Second Terrace, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

He was pronounce dead at the hospital.

Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives “are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this ongoing incident,” said agency spokeswoman Miranda Grossman.
