Laid is based on the Australian series created by Marieke Hardy and Kirsty Fisher, and produced by Liz Watts. It follows a woman who finds out her former lovers are dying in unusual ways and must go back through her sex timeline to confront her past to move forward. It’s described as a f*cked-up rom-com where the answer to “Why can’t I find love, is there something wrong with me?” is a resounding: “Yes, there is. The problem is definitely you.”
The series comes from Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Hsu executive produces alongside John Davis and John Fox for Davis Entertainment; Jennifer Carreras for Fierce Baby; Marieke Hardy, Kirsty Fisher and Liz Watts for Porchlight Films; and All3Media International.
This Summer, Mamet will next be seen co-starring opposite Tony Hale in Netflix’s period dramedy The Decameron, from Kathleen Jordan and Jenji Kohan. She recently co-starred opposite Kaley Cuoco in two seasons of Max’s The Flight Attendant. Mamet is also known for bringing to life the character Shoshanna Shapiro in the hit HBO series, Girls. She is repped by UTA, Sugar23, Janklow & Nesbit Associates and Weintraub Tobin Chediak Coleman Grodin.
Angarano is coming off a successful award season supporting the film Oppenheimer in which he portrayed Robert Serber. He will next be seen in Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 from New Line Cinema. His TV credits also include Peacock’s Angelyne, Max/Starz’s Minx and NBC’s This Is Us. He is repped by UTA, Anonymous Content and JTWAMM.
Martinez was most recently a series regular on Freeform’s Good Trouble, which wrapped up its run after 5 seasons earlier this month. He played Gael Martinez since the show’s inception. Additional TV credits include Netflix’s Not Dead Yet, Prime Video’s Hunters, Mosquito Coast for Apple+, Showtime’s Shameless and the CW’s Riverdale. He is repped by Greene Talent & Luber Roklin Mgmt.
