Baby goat can’t stand reflection, headbutts mirror repeatedly

A baby goat angrily attacks its own reflection.

Baby goat Charlotte has found a rival baby goat that looks much like she does — little and adorable — but she doesn't like her new acquaintance one bit.

Sandy Cochrane uploaded this video of the goat's reaction when she spots herself in a mirror and reacts angrily, confusing her reflection for a rival. She stages a territorial battle against tiny goat number two, butting her head against the mirror repeatedly.

Don't be so hard on yourself Charlotte, we think you're cute.

The video was uploaded at the end of June but it's recently spiked in popularity, hitting more than 108,000 views on Monday afternoon.

Us cruel and mocking humans often find amusement watching animals become perplexed at the side of their reflections. For example, this viral video from May in which lizards, cats, dogs and birds can't handle seeing their doubles.

Many non-primate animals can't identify the image looking back at them from a mirror as their own, but a study from 2008 found that magpies, infamous as thieves of shiny objects, might be able to learn self-recognition using mirrors, according to New Scientist.

Maybe it helps them appreciate how pretty they look with the stolen jewelry that's supposedly earned them their bad reputation.
