A Canada Post worker is outraged after the company fired him by mail, according to CBC News.

Mars Bazrafshan spoke to the public broadcaster last week, saying Canada Post was planning to dismiss him because he claimed overtime pay.

Bazrafshan learned he was fired on Tuesday when he received a letter while picketing outside head office in Toronto, according to the broadcaster. He could file a grievance, but CBC reported Canada Post already has 50,000 grievances from its unionized employees and more than 700 are related to dismissals.

Canada Post said it investigates frequent overtime claims because its routes are designed to take delivery staff one shift to finish.

Readers commenting online joked that a letter from Canada Post might be the best way to get fired, because it's sure to take at least a few weeks to arrive.

Previous stories reported with mail-related puns include a case last May when a Canada Post employee "went postal" on Facebook, complaining about her supervisors and saying she had a voodoo doll of one of them that she would like to run over with a car.

Maybe she should have mailed a private letter to her boss instead.
