LG scares job seekers with end of the world prank

Is that the world ending behind you, or is that a crystal clear image on a television?

LG's latest viral marketing campaign in Chile tries to suggest it's possible to mistake video of a massive explosion for the real thing by pranking job candidates during interviews.

The video shows staff members hoisting one of its Ultra HD televisions into the wall so that it looks like a window. Interview subjects walk in and sit down facing their interviewer, who sits in front of the television as it displays a static image of the city.

But then the scene changes before their eyes eliciting sudden horror from subjects who are mid-sentence through interview answers.

LG hasn't said if the prank subjects are actors, and some suspect they are, but the video already has more than 2 million views on YouTube.

LG has used pranks like this one in commercials before, such as a video from last fall that appears to trick elevator riders into thinking the floor has fallen out from beneath them.

Many suspected LG had used a green screen and filled in the falling-floor effect afterward, but real or not, the video has more than 19 million views.

In another commercial, LG featured attractive women on screens above urinals who pretended to interact with men as they used the washroom.
