Police said a berrypicker whose failure to return home had triggered a search on Newfoundland's Bonavista Peninsula made his way to safety early Monday morning.
RCMP organized a search for Gary Skiffington, 51, in the Amherst Cove area after he was reported overdue around 9 p.m.
Skiffington, though, walked out of the woods just before the ground search — which had been suspended in the wee hours — was about to resume around 6:30 a.m.
Police said Skiffington was "cold and damp but otherwise in good health."
He was taken to hospital in Bonavista to ensure he was fine.
