More details about body found in Glenwood
CBC News has obtained more details about the grisly discovery of a man's body in a ditch by school children in Glenwood.
Half a dozen elementary students found the body of Aubrey Head, 61, in a water-filled ditch, just steps from their school on Monday.
"He looked like he was a dummy. He didn't look like a real man, and so we left," said Valerie Shay, who's in Grade 5.
"My other friend went in the house and her mom came out and thought it was a real person, and called [my friend's] pop, and he came down and called the cops."
Darren Thistle, who lives two doors away from the scene, said Head had a hard life.
"I think he had a bit of a rough life, and that at times he didn't have too much to live on, I would say, because he hadn't worked or nothing," he said.
Head was known to be unemployed, struggled for a place to live, and had issues with drinking.
He was last seen on the night of Sept. 22 at the local bar, one block away from where his body was found.
Last winter, he fell asleep in the snow in Gander, and lost most of his fingers to frostbite.
The RCMP said the autopsy results show that it's not a criminal matter, but they're waiting for a cause of death before offering further comment.
