Premier Alison Redford's letter writers to cost $300K
Albertans looking to write a letter to Premier Alison Redford could soon get a speedier reply — but that will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The Premier's office is spending $300,000 to hire more people to write letters. While the government says the money is justified, the Liberal Opposition Leader says it's unnecessary.
"They have a public affairs bureau whose budget is over $25 million," said Raj Sherman. "They have ministries that have millions of dollars of communications people. There's absolutely zero justification."
An additional $400,000 is also being designated for hosting the province's guests.
The province says it has an ambitious plan to open new markets for Alberta's resources and wants to invite decision-makers and government leaders to come to Alberta to explore new opportunities — on the province's tab.
