RCMP continue to investigate Tignish ATV vandal case
RCMP are continuing to investigate a case where a group of all-terrain vehicle (ATV) riders vandalized a property Saturday night in Tignish and threatened people inside a home.
Police believe a group of ATV riders threw rocks and pieces of wood through the windows of the house and also smashed the window of a parked car.
At this point, it's still not clear how many four-wheelers were on the premises.
"Well, the number varies in the reports, but we believe there was a number up around 12, maybe even up to 20 ATVs involved," said RCMP Sgt. Leanne Butler.
Neighbours said the vandalized home is owned by a man in Ontario and that the current residents moved in about a month ago.
Police say the incident was not random.
''Well, we are still continuing the investigation to find out exactly why, but we do believe that it was a targeted incident and the public don't have to fear that it was something other than that," said Butler.
