5 free Grey Cup activities happening in Winnipeg

With the 103rd Grey Cup mere days away on Wednesday, a number of venues around Winnipeg are gearing up to host pre-game festivities and fun.

Here are five things to check out before going to watch the Ottawa Redblacks take on the Edmonton Eskimos:

The Nissan Titan Street Festival

Beginning on Thursday, the University of Winnipeg will become a zone for entertainment, family fun and food.

The MacDon Fan Experience and Family Zone will take over the university's Health and RecPlex, where fans can get their faces painted with their team's colours, meet team mascots and watch stilt walkers make their way across the grounds.

The main stage, located in the Duckworth Centre, will host the CFL's cheer teams on Saturday afternoon before the Santa Claus parade goes by outside.

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Fan Fest

This festival takes place at the Club Regent Event Centre on Thursday between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Here, you can get your picture taken with the Grey Cup trophy and collect autographs from CFL players and alumni. Safe driving is no problem because Manitoba Liquors and Lotteries is providing a shuttle (also free) from RBC Convention Centre to the casino for the festival. It runs every half an hour between 3:30 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Calgary Grey Cup Committee Pancake Breakfast

You can skip making yourself breakfast on Friday and Saturday mornings, and head down to the University of Winnipeg for a (late) pancake breakfast, beginning at 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on both days.

Even though the Stampeders did not make the Grey Cup won't stop this delicious meal from reaching fans in Winnipeg.

TigerTown Grey Cup Party

One day before the big game, Fox and Fiddle is hosting the TigerTown Grey Cup Party, where fans of the black and gold will gather to celebrate. Festivities go between 3 p.m. on Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

Fan March

Get your best, loudest cheer on at the 103rd Grey Cup Fan March, which starts at the RBC Convention Centre and travels through downtown Winnipeg to The Forks, where buses will be ready and waiting to take excited fans to the game.

These are few of the many activities taking place all over Winnipeg before the game starts on Sunday at 5 p.m. For a complete list of activities and what you can expect to see at each of them, visit the 103rd Grey Cup's website.
