St. Vincent: All Born Screaming
Following a sepia-toned journey into 1970s rock’n’roll swagger, St. Vincent returns to jagged-edged electronics for her new album All Born Screaming. Annie Clark’s latest follows Daddy’s Home, her 2021 LP, which took cues from Prince, funk posturing, and even John Cassavetes films. But All Born Screaming isn’t so nostalgic—perhaps only for the St. Vincent of a few years back. For the first time, Clark takes on production duties, and she brought along collaborators like Dave Grohl, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Josh Freese, Stella Mozgawa, Rachel Eckroth, Mark Guiliana, David Ralicke, and Cate Le Bon, who sings on the title track. Clark shared the singles “Broken Man,” “Flea,” and “Big Time Nothing” ahead of the LP.

Thom Yorke: Confidenza (Original Soundtrack)
After releasing two albums in relatively swift succession with the Smile, Thom Yorke is back again with a score to Daniele Luchetti’s drama film Confidenza, which premiered this festival season but does not yet have a U.S. release date. The score includes the elegiac “Knife Edge” and the brassier orchestral composition “Prize Giving,” the latter an instrumental, both released this week.

Justice: Hyperdrama [Ed Banger/Because Music]
Justice: Hyperdrama
Justice waited eight years to release the follow-up to Woman, and it sounds as if they spent the time studiously expanding their cross-genre chops. The Hyperdrama single “Generator” alone mixes the proto-disco of Salsoul Orchestra “with gabber and classic ’90s hardcore techno sounds,” by the duo’s own reckoning. Another single, “One Night/All Night,” features Tame Impala, and Miguel appears on “Saturnine.”

Hovvdy: Hovvdy [Arts & Crafts]
Hovvdy: Hovvdy
Hovvdy—the Austin, Texas, indie-pop duo of Charlie Martin and Will Taylor—have shared their fifth full-length. The self-titled release follows 2021’s True Love and their Billboard for My Feelings EP from the subsequent year. Hovvdy shared lead single “Forever” back in January, along with a video directed by Michael Rees set at a house party. The album deals with “looking back and seeing your parents as just individuals struggling through life—and trying to have more empathy or understanding,” as Martin put it in press materials.

Anycia: Princess Pop That [UnitedMasters]
Anycia: Princess Pop That
Anycia hits a sweet spot between rap élan and R&B chill, delivering sometimes vicious bars in an always sleepy deadpan. The Atlanta artist’s debut album, Princess Pop That, builds on the buzz of her Latto-featuring single “Back Outside,” her eponymous 2023 single, and a viral performance of “BRB” on the video series From the Block. Both tracks feature here, along with appearances from Luh Tyler and Cash Cobain and production from Jetsonmade, Bankroll Got It, and more.

LustSickPuppy: CAROUSEL FROM HELL
LustSickPuppy is the nom de plume of Brooklyn native Tommy Hayes, who’s been rapping and raging throughout the Bushwick underground circuit for the past few years. Their self-released debut LP, Carousel From Hell, mashes jungle, punk, rap, and club beats into a unique and high octane burst of sound—Hayes refers to the process as “genrefucking.” LustSickPuppy issued singles “Blisster,” “Chokehold,” and “Exes” ahead of dropping the nine-track album.

A quarter-century in, Ben Chasny continues to mine new corridors of gothic folk as Six Organs of Admittance. Time Is Glass, the Drag City stalwart’s first album in seven years combines understated yet dizzyingly intricate fingerpicking with half-chanted vocals that straddle the whimsical and monkish, slathering it all in cosmic ambient textures. A sense of quiet, spellbinding ecstasy accumulates throughout.

Bullion: Affection
Nathan Jenkins, the British singer, songwriter, and producer best known as Bullion, is back with his first album of original material since 2020’s We Had a Good Time. The LP marks his first for Ghostly International, and features contributions from Carly Rae Jepsen (on lead single “Rare”), Panda Bear (“A City’s Never”), and Charlotte Adigéry (“World_Train”). The 12-song project follows Bullion’s frequent production work with the likes of Westerman, Nilüfer Yanya, and Avalon Emerson.

Sega Bodega: Dennis
In-demand producer Sega Bodega delves into the hypnagogic with his third album, Dennis, casting his trademark dance-pop sound in an otherworldly haze. Now based between Paris and London, he made the record after a period of manic mental health. His aim, he says, was to “create a feeling of being as disorientated as I was for the past couple of years.”
