Adam Scott Faces Severing His Memories in “Severance” Season 2 Teaser as Apple TV+ Announces Winter 2025 Premiere Date

The award-winning workplace thriller will return in 2025

Severance fans can rest easy knowing the show will return next year!

On Wednesday, July 10, Apple TV+ announced that the workplace thriller will return for a second season on Friday, January 17, 2025.

Apple TV+’s workplace thriller centers around a group of employees who have undergone “severance,” a procedure that separates their work personas (or “innies”) from who they are in the real world (known as their “outies”). With the secrets of Lumon Industries rapidly unraveling, Severance fans were hit with a major cliffhanger at the end of season 1.

Parks and Recreation’Adam Scott stars as Mark Scout, a Lumon worker who agrees to severance as a way to cope with the death of his wife. After the mysterious disappearance of his best friend and former Lumon employee Petey, he teams up with new hire Helly (Britt Lower) and other coworkers Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Irving (John Turturro) to uncover the company’s web of conspiracies.

Created and written by Dan Erickson, Severance season 2 will see Mark and his friends learning the "dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe," according to an official synopsis.

The upcoming installment will see the return of the main cast and the addition of Sarah Bock. Ben Stiller will executive produce the series and direct five episodes in the new season.

Alongside the release date, the streamer debuted a brand new teaser giving a taste of what's to come.

"I give consent for the Lumon Corporation to sever my memories between my work life and my personal life," Mark and Helly say interchangeably as they step into an elevator one by one with Dylan and Irving.

"I am aware that this alteration is comprehensive and irreversible," Helly says as she puts a lanyard over her head.

After several flashes of the next season play on screen, the foursome find themselves in an empty white room. Gwendolyn Christie's unknown character warns Mark and Helly as they breath heavily, "You should have left."

Severance season 2 premieres on Apple TV+ on January 17, 2025.
