Adrien Brody Goes Blonde, Matching with Girlfriend Georgina Chapman at 2024 Met Gala

The Academy Award winner showed off his new hair color, which he told reporters was a decision he made because he "was bored"

Adrien Brody starred in Blonde, and now he's giving the hair hue a go himself!

The Academy Award winner, 51, stepped out at the 2024 Met Gala on May 6 with a new look alongside his girlfriend, Georgina Chapman.

Attending the annual event — this year themed "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" — Brody could be seen with his new bleached hair, as he wore a dapper black tux to match Chapman's black-and-white puffy dress and her own blonde hair parted in the middle.

For his look, Brody opted for a massive bird brooch on his chest and a black bow tie, as his partner went with her blooming gown to fit the theme and accessorized with some diamonds to match Brody's brooch.

When asked by a reporter on the carpet why he dyed his hair blonde — and if it were meant for a role — Brody said, "No, I just was bored," he said, per the Hollywood Reporter.

While it's unclear exactly when Brody decided to switch up his hair color, his most recent Instagram post features him with dark hair just four days before the Met Gala.

Brody and Chapman have appeared at the Met Gala before, including in 2022 when Brody opted for a black tux with a white bow tie.

Brody and Chapman were first linked in 2019, with PEOPLE confirming in February 2020 that they were dating. At the time, a source shared that the Project Runway alum and the actor had known each other "for a while," adding that the couple shared "many of the same interests."

"She thinks he's unusual and interesting," the source added. "She finds [him] to be an interesting person with a deep passion for his work that is similar to hers."

The pair made their red carpet debut back in 2021 at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Clean in New York City.

Speaking with PEOPLE in April, Brody explained how the fashion designer's young son once left him at a loss for words. "My girlfriend's 9-year-old son recently asked me — quite seriously: 'What would you rather eat? Ice cream that tastes like s--- or s--- that tastes like ice cream?'" he said.

In the same interview, he described how he was once recognized on a plane wearing a "plane wearing a mask, sunglasses, baseball hat and hoodie" for the flight's duration — so his new hair may not have helped!

"When we landed, a young man sitting behind me said, 'Man, I love your movies.' I couldn't for the life of me understand how he recognized me," Brody said.
