What is Andor about?

Every revolution starts with a spark. Cassian Andor is one of many sparks, whose clever antics as a rebel operative in Rogue One made him an instant fan favorite. Andor is Cassian's origin story, set five years before the events of Rogue One. Of course, revolutions don't occur in a vacuum, even in space. Cassian Andor is a pawn on a much larger chessboard of intergalactic intrigue, where unlikely allies begin to form not just a rebellion, but an alliance. A Rebel Alliance, if you will.

Like The Mandalorian before it, Andor transcends its appeal, thanks in large part to the magnificent acting talents of Stellan Skarsgard, Fiona Shaw and Genevieve O'Reilly, who portrays the eventual Rebel Alliance leader Mon Mothma. (Does that count as a spoiler? Return of the Jedi is almost 40 years old, after all). Andor's thrilling themes of mass surveillance, fascism and resistance make it as fun to watch as any popular prestige TV show. This isn't too surprising, as many episodes in season one are written by Tony Gilroy (the Bourne series, Michael Clayton) and Beau Willimon (House of Cards, The Ides of March).
