Anya Taylor-Joy addresses Dune 3 return
Anya Taylor-Joy has addressed the possibility of returning for a third instalment in the Dune franchise.
The star made an uncredited cameo in Dune: Part Two as Alia Atreides, the unborn sister of Paul (Timothée Chalamet) who appears in his visions in addition to speaking to his mother, Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), from the womb.

Following both the critical and commercial success of the film, director Denis Villeneuve announced that he would conclude his trilogy with an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, a project that Taylor-Joy would gladly return to (via Variety).
“I hope so,” she said of the possibility of returning, before discussing how her role was kept a secret for Dune: Part Two. “Denis is one of my all-time favourites - Arrival is my comfort movie. Before I even sat down [in the meeting], he was like, ‘I want you to be in Dune, but you can’t do it.’
“I was like, ‘Please?’ I skipped all the stages of grief and went straight to begging. I was like, ‘I can do this. I can be in Australia and Abu Dhabi at the same time.’ He wanted me to be part of the universe. We kept in touch. I just had this feeling that it wasn’t over.”

Villeneuve, who also directed Prisoners and Blade Runner: 2049, also spoke about Taylor-Joy’s small role, saying: “Anya was Alia as soon as I met with her. I realised after the fact [that] she has always been Alia.
“Anya feels out of this world, as though she belongs to some other dimension, one step into the dream. Shooting with Anya in Africa was nothing short of magical. Her generosity, candour and passion truly moved me. I can’t wait to go back to Arrakis with her.”
Dune: Part Two is in cinemas now, and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on May 27.
