Apple's upcoming iPhone X Plus to be the same size as iPhone 8 Plus, report says

Wondering how big the rumored iPhone X Plus will really be?

According to a new report by Macotakara, you can easily get a feel for it by grabbing an iPhone 8 Plus, because the two devices will be roughly the same size.

Macotakara bases this on a "reliable supplier source," but it isn't that hard to guesstimate the size of the iPhone X Plus yourself. The device is rumored to have a 6.5-inch screen (compared to the iPhone 8 Plus' 5.5-inch screen), but due to dramatically lower bezels its overall size of the two phones should be similar.

For comparison, the 5.8-inch iPhone X is 5.65x2.79 inches, while the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 is 5.45x2.65 inches.

The report also claims the iPhone X will be slightly thicker (0.2mm or 0.0078 inches) than the iPhone 8 Plus due to a different implementation of the rear camera (so, potentially there will be no camera bump).

Furthermore, Macotakara claims that the next version of Apple's mobile OS, iOS 12, will bring support for horizontal Face ID unlocking. Currently, Face ID can only recognize you while you hold the phone vertically, but horizontal unlock makes a lot of sense for the phablet-sized iPhone X Plus as well as the rumored new iPad with Face ID support.

None of this has been officially confirmed by Apple, and the iPhone X Plus, if real, isn't likely to be announced before September. Previous rumors about the iPhone X Plus claimed a $999 starting price, an OLED display, more RAM (4GB) and a significantly larger battery than the one on iPhone X.
