Argument between neighbors leads to fatal shooting in North Richland Hills, police say

A North Richland Hills man was arrested Sunday after he was accused of fatally shooting his neighbor during an argument, police said.

Authorities received a 911 call about 3 p.m. reporting a shooting in the 7500 block of Windhaven Road, North Richland Hills police said in a news release.

Officers found the 48-year-old shooting victim in the front yard of a home. He was taken to Baylor Grapevine Hospital by fire department medics and was pronounced dead.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as William Edward Platt Jr.

The suspect, a 60-year-old man, was determined to be the victim’s neighbor, police said. He remained at the scene and was arrested and transported to the North Richland Hills Joint Detention Facility.

The identity of the suspect and the charges against him will be released after he has been seen by a magistrate, police said.
