Armed robber steals cash in home invasion east of Winnipeg

RCMP hope a tip from the public can identify an armed robber who stole from a residence near Dugald, Man.

At about 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Oakbank RCMP responded to a report of a home invasion on the 25,000 block of Dugald Road.

A male suspect kicked in the front door of a home carrying a firearm. He demanded cash from the resident and stole an undisclosed amount of money, said RCMP. Investigators believe the suspect was familiar the home and "did not choose the residence at random."

No one was injured in the incident and the firearm was not discharged, noted police.

RCMP believe a passing motorist may have seen the man's getaway vehicle, said spokesperson Tara Seel.

"Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have noticed a vehicle travelling at high speed, anyone who may have been cut off or noticed any erratic driving on or near the 25000 block of Dugald Road/Highway 15 between 11:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 19," said a police news release.
