Bellingham woman accused of brandishing knife during dispute over dog, eluding arrest

Whatcom County deputies recently arrested a woman who is accused of threatening another person with a large kitchen knife during a dispute over a dog.

On June 12 deputies were dispatched to the 7000 block of Guide Meridian following a report of harassment.

Deputies contacted a person who said Pamela Faye Beidel, 56, chased them and their dog after the dog had escaped its leash. The person claimed Beidel had threatened to get a gun from her home and later returned with a large butcher’s knife from a residence, according to Deb Slater with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.

Beidel fled the scene before she could be placed under arrest.

Deputies located Beidel on June 24 driving in the 7000 block of Hannegan Road. Her vehicle was stopped, and when she was informed it was because there was probable cause for her arrest, she drove away at high speed.

Beidel eventually fled the vehicle on foot near the Hidden Village trailer park on Guide Meridian. Deputies found her in a trailer smelling of intoxicants, slurring her speech and having difficulties walking, according to Slater.

Beidel was booked into Whatcom County Jail under suspicion of driving under the influence, attempting to elude police and for the previous probable cause of felony harassment and brandishing a weapon. She has since been bonded out of custody.
