BET Awards Reach 3M Viewers, Up 10% For 2024

The BET Awards saw promising audience growth this year.

The 2024 ceremony managed around 3M total viewers across 10 Paramount-owned networks, including BET, Logo, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1 and Nickelodeon at Nite, among others. That’s a 10% boost from last year’s 2.8M cross-platform viewers.

In the key 18-49 demographic, the show scored its highest viewership in 5 years, Paramount says. On BET alone, the awards amassed nearly 2M viewers with a 15% uptick in the 18-49 demo.

When taking into account the red carpet live show and the encore airing of the ceremony, the BET Awards’ viewership grew to 4.3M viewers. The combined red carpet and encore audience (around 1.3M) was up 7% versus last year.

The 2024 BET Awards also generated plenty of chatter online, ranking as the most social program across all of TV with 82% growth year-over-year and 10.5M social interactions.

Including social, the “total digital minutes watched” on show day for BET Awards content was up 12% versus last year.

The 2024 BET Awards were stacked with performances from Megan Thee StallionChildish GambinoMs. Lauryn Hill & YG Marley, Ice Spice, Tyla, GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Victoria Monét and Tanner Adell.

Will Smith graced fans with the live debut of his new song ‘You Can Make It‘. It also marked his first performance on the BET Awards stage as he prepares to release his fifth studio album Dance in Your Darkest Moments nearly 20 years after his album Lost and Found (2004). Usher also received a life achievement award with tributes from Childish GambinoKeke PalmerChloe BaileyTeyana Taylor and more.
