Sighting of Pauline Marois in a Ferrari spurs social media buzz

Was that former Quebec premier Pauline Marois cruising around in a Ferrari on the weekend?

Social media connoisseurs seem to think so.

On Monday, a picture of someone who appears to be Marois was widely circulated on the Internet.

Here's how the picture came to be, according to the MTLBlog.

"The photo was likely taken [on Sunday], as both La Clique du Plateau and the Put The Canadian Flag Back In Quebec Assembly FB group both shared the image sometime yesterday evening. The latter states that this is Marois’ brand new Ferrari, which means things are going pretty well for Marois despite the results of the last election."

Marois became premier, with a minority government, of la belle province in September 2012. In an attempt to achieve that elusive majority, she gambled and forced an election in April of this year, losing — in a crushing defeat — to Philippe Couillard's Liberals.

She retired, on election night, returning to private life.

And, incidentally, her private life is certainly one that could afford her the luxury of an exotic car.

Her husband — businessman Claude Blanchet — a man of considerable wealth. (We don't know exactly how much wealth but the couple did recently list their 12,000 square foot manor for sale for $6 million).

In other words, don't cry for Pauline Marois.
