'Dancing With the Stars' Week 5: Whose Dancing Dreams Ended on Disney Night?

SPOILER ALERT: This recap reveals the elimination results of Week 5 of "Dancing With the Stars."

It was a Disney dance-off on this week's "Dancing With the Stars," with the nine remaining celebrity couples celebrating some of the most iconic Disney animated movies of all time, accompanied by favorite songs and animated characters.

The night also marked the first perfect score of the season, and the return of Donny Osmond to the ballroom. The Season 9 mirrorball champ was this week's guest judge, and he came with his own Disney cred: In 1998, Osmond sang Captain Shang's "I'll Make a Man Out of You" on the hit movie "Mulan." The singer also dished another Disney connection: "Walt Disney himself discovered my brothers," he revealed. "So I'm in show business because of Walt Disney."

But amid all the magic, an elimination was in order, and no amount of pixie dust could save this week's doomed duo since the ousted couple's fate was sealed after last week's judges' scores and viewer votes.

So, whose Disney dancing dreams were shattered?

Despite a magical effort in the ballroom, the fairytale was over for Cody Simpson and his pro partner Witney Carson. Their Simba samba to the song "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" from "The Lion King" received praise from the judges ("Tonight I felt the power of Cody," Carrie Ann Inaba declared), but it couldn't save them from their previous scores.

Simpson, who has nearly 7 million Twitter followers, seemed the most shocked by his demise. He looked at his partner and said "What?" when his name was announced, before telling host Tom Bergeron, "It's all good. This has been a very new experience, an amazing experience and you know, it's tough but it is what it is."

A stunned Carson added, "I'm sad. I feel like people didn't really get a chance to see Cody yet. He's incredible. And this journey, my first season as a pro, having Cody… it was so great. I'm grateful for him as well."

Check out the highlights from this week's dances:

James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd, Contemporary ("Let it Go" from "Frozen")

Not only did they nab the most coveted song of the night, but they nabbed the coveted first perfect score of the season. Maslow and Murgatroyd's contemporary to the chart-topping "Frozen" theme song was full of gorgeous lifts and glittery animation. (Murgatroyd made a perfect Elsa, too.) Len Goodman said, "That would melt the coldest heart — even mine."

Drew Carey and Cheryl Burke, Quickstep ("Friend Like Me" from "Aladdin")

A cameo from Aladdin's Genie wasn't enough to work magic for Drew Carey's quickstep. Goodman said, "This routine was, I'll tell you, zip-a-dee-doo-dah. The performance had plenty of zip, but the technique was doo-dah."

Charlie White and Sharna Burgess, Jazz ("Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from "Mary Poppins")

The Olympic ice dancer pulled off an eye-popping jazz with pro Burgess, and even though he accidentally dropped Bert's cane (he portrayed Dick Van Dyke's jack-of-all-trades character), he got a 10 from Goodman! Bruno Tonioli loved the dance so much he asked White to do it again — backwards.

Danica McKellar and Val Chmerkovskiy, Quickstep ("Be Our Guest" from "Beauty & the Beast")

The former "Wonder Years" star made a beautiful Belle for her quickstep, and the dance had Inaba simply giddy. Tonilio called the routine "a delicious feast for the eyes," while Osmond told the duo, "Both of you guys knocked it out of the park!" All three judges pulled out their "10" paddles, while Goodman coughed up a nine.

Amy Purdy and Derek Hough, Waltz ("So This is Love" from "Cinderella")

Despite her initial struggles with ballroom technique, the Paralympian snowboarder was the belle of the ball as she transformed into Cinderella, with Hough as her perfect Prince Charming. Inaba noted a lift in the routine, but she didn't take off a point due to Purdy's unique situation. The clearly moved judge also offered this sentiment: "I hope Disney will make their next princess like you."

NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani, Foxtrot ("Cruella De Vil" from "101 Dalmatians")

After a tense rehearsal week, the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star pulled off one of her best dances of the season. "Girl, you can rock the villain," Inaba said, before adding, "Tony, your best choreography yet."

Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Samba ("I Wanna Be Like You" from "The Jungle Book")

While many fans assumed Davis would channel "Aladdin's" Princess Jasmine this week (she's got the look!), the Olympic medalist had jungle fever instead. It was Davis, Maks, and monkeys for a "wamba of a samba" (Goodman's description). Maks even shaved for the occasion.

Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas, Samba ("Under the Sea" from "The Little Mermaid")

After last week's leaderboard low, the "Full House" alum was motivated to improve her game. She donned a red wig to play Ariel while Ballas put on crab claws. Goodman praised the couple's samba as "so much fun and joy. Irresistible!"
