It just goes to show, you’re never to old to attend a wild and crazy pop concert.

86-year-old Edmonton resident Inez Whitfield is proof.

The retired teacher, who has been a huge Lady Gaga fan, attended her sold-out concert Monday night in Edmonton.

According to CBC News, Whitfield became a fan of Gaga’s a few years ago when she was in the hospital and first saw her on Oprah.

She then saw Lady Gaga live in person when she attended her 2010 concert.

“I thought seeing her in person, hearing her, listening to her project her voice and hearing her songs – I thought she was just a bright light in a dark world,” said Whitfield of the world famous pop icon.

Whitfield, who had heard that tickets to the upcoming concert were going on sale, called immediately to book tickets.

“The gal in Winnipeg who handles Ticketmaster told me I was the first one to call,” she said, laughing.

Whitfield is currently staying at the Norwood Continuing Care Centre as she recovers from an emergency appendectomy. She had to get a special pass from her doctor in order to attend Monday’s show. According to Whitfield’s daughter Kendra, Lady Gaga has been an icon for her elderly mother who has been in an out of hospitals for a year.

In an interview with the elderly fan and her daughter, Whitfield explains her obsession with the pop sensation.

“I would have liked to have been like her when I was her age,” she says.

Her daughter attributes Gaga’s spirit as an inspiration for her mother to keep going in life.

Whitfield is thankful to the staff at the Norwood care centre for supporting her and making her feel good about attending the concert. She says they've nicknamed her “Granny Gaga” and they fully support her spirited enthusiasm towards the pop star.

Whitfield admits that she is not a musical person but that she has become an advocate for Lady Gaga, preaching about her daring approach to life.

“She’s so different from anybody else out there,” she says, as she discusses the many reasons she loves Gaga. “The way she approached her velocity for the young people, growing up with a positive message of life and hope she gave them, and I found that very inspiring for all ages.”

Though Whitfield raves about her love for Lady Gaga and all that she stands for, she admits she does draw the line at one thing – Oh yes, that infamous ‘meat dress.’ Yuk!
