Dramatic dashcam footage captures accident on Toronto road

Two concerned Toronto citizens captured a dangerous road incident in a shocking video posted to Reddit.

Dashcam footage shows a couple pulling out of a parking lot and driving behind an out-of-control vehicle along Eglinton Avenue near Don Mills Road, reports 680 News.

The silver car can be seen speeding along until beginning to drift dangerously close the side of the road.

“Oh my god,” the woman driving the vehicle can be heard saying.

That’s when suddenly the car crashes onto the sidewalk, scrapes along a guard rail and sends pylons and a road sign flying into the air - only to continue driving away.

“Holy sh*t! Hold on, let me call 911,” the passenger says after seeing the crash.

The couple continues to follow the driver as they frantically describe the dangerous situation to a 911 operator and take down the driver’s license plate number.

Things go from bad to worse as the damaged car speeds up and slams into another vehicle at the next intersection, to the shock of the man speaking to 911 over the phone.

“Oh my god. Oh my god … you gotta get an ambulance here right away.”

That’s when the footage comes to an abrupt end, but the video’s uploader later took to Reddit to add additional details about the whole ordeal after they pulled over to help.

“The guy who caused the accident was drunk. He sat in his car for about 10 minutes and tried to start it a few times (perhaps to flee). Police still hadn’t arrived when he got out of his car and started walking away,” he writes.

Luckily, by the time authorities did arrive the couple were able to quickly point the dangerous driver out as he was walking down the road. The driver was reportedly arrested by Toronto police and charged with impaired driving.
