Jeweller makes a 14 carat gold Han Solo -- from a LEGO toy

LEGO has changed its game drastically since your childhood, even replacing Ferrari as the “world’s most powerful brand,” according to Brand Finance. So it is not a surprise that creatives and artists alike are taking the tiny plastic blocks and figurines and having a bit more fun.

YouTuber JerryRigEverything took a break from his usual cell phone hacks, and recorded something different this week: A jeweler creating a sold gold Han Solo from LEGO’s popular Star Wars collection.

In the clip, the tiny figurine is first placed on a pedestal, coated in plastic and then immersed in a scorching hot oven. Afterwards, the LEGO figure is revealed to have completely evaporated, and the mold left by the toy is filled with 14 carat gold.

Creating the gold replica was an extensive process, but worth it in the end. Darth Vader’s lightsaber was no match for the gilded exterior of Han Solo.

This is not the first time Solo’s likeness has been given special treatment. Last September, Falcon Toys created a Pop Tart-like toy, with Han Solo’s figure encased in frosting.
