#HandforTorri: Thanks to Twitter campaign, teen gets bionic hand, hugs dad for the first time

Torri Biddle gets a bionic hand, hugs dad for the first time

Torri Biddle was born with a right arm that stopped at her elbow.

Last fall, her friends in Liberty Center, Ohio, decided to rally together in the hopes of getting Torri the bionic prosthesis that she'd always wanted — but couldn't afford.

They launched a Twitter campaign #HandforTorri, hoping to get the attention of organizations that could help out their friend.

It worked.

The Buried Life, with the support of Invisible Children and a $150,000 donation from Hanger Clinics, stepped up and helped realize Torri's dream of being able to hug her dad with two arms.

"This is what she has always wanted her whole life," her father, Joe, said of his daughter's new arm. "For her to overcome everything she has in her life, and now to finally get something like this, now she’s opened up a whole new world for her."

The video of Torri's bionic arm is now starting to go viral. If the video reaches 1 million views, The Hangar Clinic will donate a second bionic arm to someone else in need.

According to The Buried Life, a troupe of young guys on an epic bucket-list mission, Torri is currently working at an ice cream shop — and uses her new bionic arm every day.
