Li Juhong has a unique way of visiting her patients outside the mountainous region of Chongqing, China.

The 37-year-old doctor, who had her legs amputated at the age of four, uses two stools to help her visit patients in the tiny town of 1,000, reports Good News Network.

Juhong lost her legs after a car accident, but the incident is what eventually spurred her to become a doctor, The Shanghaiist reports. After much practice, she learned to use two wooden stools in place of her legs.

Juhong’s husband, Xing, helps her travel around the rural areas when a patient is too sick to visit her clinic. Village records show the persistent doctor has managed over 6,000 cases since beginning her practice in 2000, reports The Shanghaiist.

“Compared with most others, I’ve come against more difficulties,” Juhong told The Shanghaiist. “But, I always whisper to myself that ‘God helps those who help themselves’ in order to inspire me to keep moving forward.”

As for her trusty and sturdy method of transportation: Juhong says she has worn out 24 wooden stools over her medical career.
