Which Boise State football players, coaches are in the running for national awards?

As the 2023 college football season approaches, Boise State coaches and players are receiving recognition on annual preseason watch lists.

We’ve rounded up the accolades all in one place.

The Broncos open the season at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at Washington. The game will be televised on ABC.

Dodd Trophy

This award celebrates the head coachwho enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of three pillars of Bobby Dodd’s coaching philosophy — scholarship, leadership and integrity. The winner of the 2023 Dodd Trophy will be announced in Atlanta during the week of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Maxwell Award

This award is given annually to the best collegiate player. The award is named in honor of Robert “Tiny” Maxwell, a former standout student-athlete at Swarthmore College and a renowned sportswriter and football official. The winner of the 87th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards held in December.

Redshirt senior running back George Holani

Wuerffel Trophy

This award honors players who combine exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field. The formal announcement of the 2023 recipient is scheduled to be made in December during The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.

Sixth-year senior defensive end Demitri Washington

Outland Trophy

The Outland Trophy is annually awarded to the best college football interior lineman. The recipient of the 2023 Outland Trophy will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN in December.

Sixth-year senior right tackle Cade Beresford

Bronko Nagurski Trophy

This award is presented annually to the top defensive player in college football. The winner will be revealed on Dec. 4 at the Bronko Nagurski Awards Banquet in Charlotte, North Carolina.
