And also appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with senior royals, including King Charles.

Kate's last public appearance was in December, when she attended a Christmas Day church service.

People in London welcomed the news as positive.

"Obviously she's a mum, and the most important thing is that she can be there for her children. So great that she's feeling well enough that she can even come out to the public eye."

"Hopefully it gives other people in a similar situation with a cancer diagnosis hope."

In January, Kate spent two weeks in hospital after having major abdominal surgery.

She revealed the tests found cancer in March.

Her office, Kensington Palace, has declined to give details about the type of cancer she has or her treatment...

...other than to say she began preventative chemotherapy in February.

Aides have warned Saturday does not mark Kate's return to a full work schedule.

She says her treatment will continue for a few more months.
