Casino player wins $1.3 million jackpot in Washington — but not the way you think

Lottery players typically head to the casino to try their luck on slot machines or at tables where they can play blackjack, poker or roulette.

But one player had a different strategy at a casino in Washington — and it ended up winning them $1.3 million.

This player bought a Lotto ticket during the June 22 drawing from the Muckleshoot Casino Resort in Auburn, Washington’s Lottery said in a June 28 news release.

The game costs $1 to get two plays.

A player then has to pick “two sets of six numbers between 1 and 49 using a playslip or let the system Quick Pick them for you,” according to the lottery website.

If someone matches six white balls, they hit the jackpot. The jackpot starts at $1 million and grows until someone hits it.

As for the lucky player, they matched the six winning numbers — 11, 18, 26, 33, 38 and 46 — scoring them $1.3 million.

No one has come forward to claim the prize, lottery officials said, but they have 180 days from the drawing date to do so.

Auburn is a 30-mile drive south from Seattle.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
