CBC P.E.I. launches Do Crew initiative to help local organizations

Are you interested in volunteering but only have limited time, or want to support a number of causes? Then the CBC P.E.I. Do Crew is for you.

This is an opportunity for Islanders who want to lend a hand from time to time, but just can't make that long term commitment to one organization.

The CBC P.E.I. Do Crew — consisting of CBC listeners, viewers and readers — is way to help worthy community organizations all over the province, it only takes a few hours and you'll feel great.

We're looking for volunteers from our audience.

When projects come up we'll send along an e-mail and look to put together a work crew.

It will take no more than three or four hours of your time. We can't offer much in return, except our thanks and a maybe a t-shirt or CBC Swag.

The Do Crew will select a handful of projects each year.

If this sounds like something you would like to help with, drop us a line at docrewpei@cbc.ca.

For our first event, the Do Crew will be helping with the clean up of the International Children's Memorial Place at Scales Pond on Saturday, May 20.

Can the Do Crew help you?

We're just getting rolling, so if there is an event happening that you think the Do Crew should be part of, let us know. Think about it this way, if your organization could have a crew of people help out for a few hours, what could get done?

Now, there are some rules, to be eligible for help from the Do Crew, your request should meet the following criteria:

- Be a non-profit or not-for-profit organization on P.E.I.

- Be in need of hands-on help

- Need the help of 8 to 15 volunteers for an activity that will last 2 to 4 hours
