Poll results: Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy basketball player named athlete of the week

A Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy boys basketball player was the Centre County athlete of the week for Jan. 22-28, according to readers of CentreDaily.com.

Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy’s Sam Krasowitz played a big role in the boys basketball team’s two wins over Juniata and East Juniata. He was fifth in the league in made 3-pointers with 22 and hit four of them in the one-point win over East Juniata as the team chases the final league playoff spot.

Krasowitz had 538 votes, or 56% of the poll.

Charli Hunt, Philipsburg-Osceola girls wrestling: Philipsburg-Osceola girls wrestling’s Charli Hunt went 4-1 at the Bald Eagle Girls’ Invitational. In her four wins, she defeated two returning state qualifiers, had two pins, a technical fall and won by decision.

Aubrey Yartz, Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy girls basketball: Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy’s Aubrey Yartz helped the girls basketball team stay undefeated during the week. Yartz had a double-double against Juniata with 20 points and 12 assists and complemented that performance with 14 points and nine assists against Greenwood and 13 points and nine assists against East Juniata. Yartz is second in the league in scoring, first in steals and second in rebounds.

Carter Boone, Bellefonte boys swimming: Carter Boone won the 200 free and the 100 fly in a meet against Central Mountain and Penns Valley as an individual, then helped the Bellefonte boys swimming win two more relay events at the meet — the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay.

He came in second place in the poll, with 236 votes.

Co-ed Bellefonte Competitive Cheer: The Bellefonte Competitive Cheer team won the District 6 title for the second year in a row. The team also placed 11th in the co-ed section of the PIAA State Championships, advancing to the semi-finals for the first time in school history.
