Chris Hemsworth Broke One Very Big Rule at the Met Gala

Chris Hemsworth played by his own rules at the 2024 Met Gala.

Speaking to E! News in an article published on Monday, May 13, the Thor actor, 40, revealed that he shied away from proper protocol at fashion's biggest night this year.

Hemsworth told the outlet that he took "heaps of selfies” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 6.

"Selfies everywhere. A lot of selfies in my phone. Like, 'When did I take that? Let's delete that one,' " he added.

According to Vogue, the annual event, which benefits the Costume Institute, maintains a "no-phone policy." Posting images to social media is also prohibited — though the Marvel talent isn’t the first to break the rule.

This year’s theme was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion," and Hemsworth made his Met Gala debut with his wife, Elsa Pataky.

He wore a three-piece, cream colored Tom Ford suit while the Fast X actress, 47, wore a long-sleeved, golden gown, complete with a crown, by the same designer.

Despite his fame, Hemsworth told E! News that he and Pataky still get excited for events like the Met.

"My wife and I, we live in Australia," he said. "So any sort of big awards show, we haven't become jaded because it's still new and exciting. And this in particular, eclectic group of people, different than the normal crowd of, you know, film award shows we've been doing… sports people, musicians, artists, so we had a really fun night."

Ahead of last week’s Met Gala, Hemsworth and Pataky made it a family affair when their twin sons Sasha and Tristan, 10, made a rare public appearance for their dad’s Australian premiere of his new film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga on May 1.

The family of four posed for photos on the red carpet with the siblings and Pataky wearing black, and The Avengers star in a plaid gray suit and a black satin shirt.

He and his spouse also share a daughter, India Rose, 11.

The month before, Hemsworth visited Gulin Gulin — a remote Australian community in the Northern Territory where he previously lived as a child with his family.

He shared the feel-good photos on social media with an Instagram recap.

“Some of my earliest and happiest memories are from that time. Now, 35 years later I’ve been lucky enough to take a trip back there,” he wrote in the caption of his carousel.

Photos showed Hemsworth smiling as he posed with locals who were dressed in traditional garments.

One picture in the slide was a hand-drawn portrait of him as his character Thor — made clear by the hammer that propelled him into the sky. “Welcome home,” was written on the illustration.

“I couldn’t be more grateful to the people of Gulin Gulin for welcoming us with such warmth and kindness. Much love and appreciation ❤️,” Hemsworth concluded.
