Claimed partner violence results in charges

A 45-year-old man was charged with six offences early Saturday morning, including spousal assault, after provincial police responded to a report of "intimate partner violence" at a home near Kakabeka Falls.
Police said Thunder Bay OPP officers went to a Marks Township residence around 2:15 a.m. No injuries were reported.
In addition to spousal assault, the accused man was charged with forcible confinement, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, theft under $5,000, destroying or damaging property and failing to comply with a probation order, a provincial news release said on Tuesday.
The accused remains in custody awaiting a court date, the release said. His name is being withheld to protect the identity of the alleged victim, police said.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
