Claudia Winkleman told BBC bosses to scrap The Traitors season 3

The Traitors presenter Claudia Winkleman has admitted she's reluctant to continue with the hit BBC One game show.

Claudia was appearing on Good Morning Britain on Friday (April 26) to promote the second season of Channel 4's The Piano when she was asked about the return of The Traitors.

GMB host Richard Arnold was surprised to hear that Claudia suggested the BBC scrap The Traitors while it was still a massive hit.

"I was reluctant to do the second and now I'm extra reluctant to do the third," she said. "I'm like, 'Guys, just leave it! It did okay, leave it!'

"They just say, 'No'. The head of the BBC, I told you, sloped forward and took my temperature."

Claudia's comments echo those she made about The Piano, as she revealed this week that she'd also doubted coming back to Channel 4's musical reality show.

"We were a little worried, weren't we, all three [Claudia, Mika and Lang Lang] of us? Because what was so beautiful about the show, which is what happens if people are playing and they don't know anyone's watching," she shared while speaking to OK! Magazine.

"And that is just unbelievably poetic. I'd just never heard of anything like that."

The BBC has no plans to shelve The Traitors despite Claudia's concerns, as it recently commissioned a celebrity spin-off that will air as a companion to the civilian version.

Among the famous faces who have already expressed interest in taking a seat at the roundtable have been Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice and former Big Brother presenter Rylan Clark.

The celebrity format has been a huge hit in the US, where the most recent season featured the likes of Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu from Love Island and even former Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow.

The Traitors series 1-2 are streaming on BBC iPlayer.
