A Clueless Reboot About Dionne Is Coming—And She Has to Solve Cher’s Disappearance

A Clueless television series focused on Dionne Davenport is in the works at Peacock, NBCUniversal's new premium video streaming service.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the beloved 1995 cult classic will be developed into a comedy that will center around Cher Horowitz’s lifelong best friend (originally played by Stacey Dash). The project has reportedly been in the works for nearly a year and is expected to include a mystery element.

Per Variety, “the untitled comedy series is described as a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny-sunglasses-wearing, oat-milk-latte- and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong number two Dionne steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans.”

The synopsis continues, “How does Dionne deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school, while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her best friend?”

The news could not have come at a better time since the film just celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. The original Clueless, which also starred Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, and Brittany Murphy, followed the life of a spoiled but sweet California rich girl who befriends a new student named Tai Frasier and decides to give her a complete makeover.

Rumors of a remake first circulated back in October, but no network or streaming service picked it up. Now that it’s found a home, the series will be executive-produced and written by Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey, who have previously worked together on a few episodes of Will & Grace. The original film’s writer and director, Amy Heckerling, is not involved in the new project.

So far, fans seem pretty excited about a Dionne-focused Clueless TV spin-off.

As for us, we’re totally buggin’.
