Coronation Street airs pregnancy news for Toyah Battersby

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has revealed shocking pregnancy news for Toyah Battersby.

Wednesday's (July 3) episode saw Toyah rushed to the hospital after Nick Tilsley found her doubled over on the floor with severe stomach pains.

"It's alright. It's alright. I'm here," Nick promised.

With sister Leanne Battersby rushing to her bedside, Toyah was unprepared for the emergency doctor to deliver her prognosis.

"It's good news, potentially. You're pregnant," she was told.

Toyah was understandably stunned since, as viewers know, the person she'd most recently slept with was her future brother-in-law Nick.

Leanne tried to ask about who the father might be, but Toyah pretended she'd recently had a one-night stand with someone her sister wouldn't know.

When Leanne headed back to work at the Bistro, Toyah admitted to Nick that this could be her last chance to have a baby after years of unsuccessful IVF treatment.

"I understand," Nick told her. "It's just such a mess, isn't it?"

Toyah made it clear to Nick that she would be keeping the baby, no matter how it may complicate their relationship with Leanne.

"The last thing you need is me reminding you there's a clock ticking, but Nick, there's a clock ticking," she pointed out.

Back at the Bistro, Leanne shared the news with The Institute's leader Rowan Cunliffe that Toyah was expecting a baby.

Rowan was pleased to hear the news, though not for the reasons Leanne might hope. The cult leader was secretly sure that Nick must be the father of Toyah's child since he had photographic proof of their affair.

Elsewhere, a gobsmacked Nick opened up to brother David Platt about the unbelievable circumstances he was facing.

"Toyah's pregnant – it's mine," he admitted.

David was stunned into silence as Nick asked for his advice on what to do about Toyah's pregnancy. However, viewers should expect further revelations when Toyah receives more shocking medical news on Friday.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
