Coronation Street's Toyah Battersby to fight back against scheming Rowan

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Toyah Battersby will continue her fight against suspicious Rowan Cunliffe next week, as she digs for evidence against him while trying to protect her sister Leanne.

Toyah has been growing increasingly worried about the influence that Rowan seems to have on her sister, with Leanne becoming further drawn into the questionable teachings of The Altovalent Institute which Rowan is part of.

In scenes that will air on Monday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 15, Toyah comes across an online forum for ex-members of The Institute. She soon spots a post which suggests that The Institute isn't to be trusted and tries to show it to Leanne, but unfortunately the post has already been taken down for legal reasons.

Although Leanne is dismissive, she decides to call Rowan about the post and he claims that it was written by his bitter ex, and that there's no truth in her words.

Rowan then reveals to Leanne that he's been promoted to head of the North-West division and offers her a tour of The Institute, leaving Leanne flattered at the invite.

Later in the week, Leanne tells step-son Simon Barlow that she met a guy called Jared at The Institute and that Jared would be keen to help Simon set up the food delivery app he's planning. Toyah listens in to their conversation, with her suspicions growing.

Simon later reveals that Jared's agreed to meet him and that he'll need to borrow some money to get the business gowing. While Leanne is delighted, Toyah thinks that this is another scam and worries about them handing over money.

Later on, Toyah studies Rowan's page and copies a number into her phone. She is soon meeting up with Rowan's ex, Una, and she explains to her how her sister has become involved in The Institute.

Toyah admits that she's worried Leanne could be in danger - will she get the confirmation from Una that she's been fearing for weeks?

Corrie star Ben Price, who plays Leanne's partner Nick Tilsley, has confirmed that this plot will grow increasingly creepy, as Leanne is drawn further into the cult that Rowan is part of, and spoke about how relevant the storyline is.

"It happens, so I think it's very topical," he said. "Look how many things are on Netflix about this. I think what's good about the story is that actually, it doesn't take much for you to start believing something."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
