Raptors' Danny Green has fallen in love with Toronto

There have been many American athletes before him that haven’t embraced heading north of the border to play professional basketball. Former Toronto Raptors such as Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter and Chris Bosh are just a few of the notable names that didn’t — whether they’ve admitted it or not — really enjoy their time with the organization.

Danny Green is not a part of that group.

The 31-year-old shooting guard has flourished since coming to Toronto from San Antonio last summer. He averaged 10.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in his first season with the team. Furthermore, his 45.5-percent mark from beyond the arc and 198 total three-pointers were both career-best numbers.

His success on the court and growing love for the city has him sounding “pretty sold” on staying in Toronto beyond this year.

“I love this organization,” Green said during a recent live taping for his ‘Inside the Green Room’ podcast with host Harrison Sanford and teammate Norman Powell. “I love this group that we have — a very talented group. (The) coaching staff (is) a lot of fun to play for and the fans, you can’t beat it. I’m sold. I’ve been pretty sold.”

Green is currently in the final year of a four-year, $40-million contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent following this season.

He also gave a bit of insight about the future of Leonard. Shockingly, he knows about as much as we do.

“I don’t know if the other guy is sold, but I’m pretty sold,” he said with a cheeky smile.

An NBA champion with the Spurs in 2015, Green will look to continue his strong postseason play and help Toronto’s pursuit of its first title in franchise history.
