Dead & Company Honor The Late Bill Walton At Sphere Show

The NBA Hall of Famer and broadcaster Walton died earlier this week from cancer at 71.

While the Grateful Dead spinoff band performed the song Fire on the Mountain, several photos of Walton were displayed on the video boards at the entertainment arena.

The photos included Walton attending various Dead concerts, snaps with band members, and a tie-dyed number “32” — the number he wore during his college and NBA days.

Following Walton’s death, the band took to social media to remember their friend.

“Fare you well, fare you well, we love you more than words can tell,” Dead & Company shared in an Instagram post, saying Walton was the biggest deadhead ever and “an irreplaceable force and spirit in our family.

Bill was an irreplaceable force and spirit in our family. Father Time, Rhythm Devil, biggest deadhead ever. Over 1000 shows and couldn’t get enough. He loved this band and we loved him.

We will miss our beloved friend, @BillWalton, deeply. Rest in peace and may the four winds blow you safely home.”
