EastEnders airs frightening escape plan for Denise

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has aired a terrifying escape plan for Denise Fox, as she continued to suffer from a breakdown following Keanu Taylor's death.

The past few weeks have seen Denise's mental health deteriorate as she struggles to cope with her involvement in the Christmas murder, and she's started to hallucinate visions of Keanu and believe Linda's son Johnny Carter was working for the devil.

Tonight's (February 21) episode saw Denise become convinced she needed to flee the square after her murder confession to her imprisoned ex-husband, Lucas Johnson.

Following her confession, Denise reiterated her belief that Johnny would "drag her to hell" and begged Lucas to absolve her of sin.

Concerned for her wellbeing, Lucas pleaded with her to seek help from a doctor. However, his words backfired and saw Denise convinced she needed to flee Walford immediately.

Back at home, Ricky, Amy and Raymond were left scared by Denise's behaviour but Amy decide to accompany her in the car while Ricky tried to get contact Jack.

Jack, meanwhile, was preoccupied with saving his relationship with Stacey after she ended their affair and urged him to support Denise through her mental health crisis.

As the pair sped off into the night, Amy tried to keep track of their location on her phone. But that caused Denise to panic and hurl the teenager's phone out the window before nearly swerving into traffic.

Believing the car was Johnny, Denise told a distraught Amy she had to flee on foot in order to keep her "safe", before walking alone while reciting prayers from the bible.

Meanwhile, Lucas was able to get through to Jack and tip him off about Denise's mental state, while a worried Ricky and Raymond were forced to seek help from Chelsea after being ignored.

The group then desperately tried to get in contact Amy, unaware she was left alone by the side of the road after Denise had vanished into the night.

Will Denise be able to get the help she needs?

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
