EastEnders star's Goosebumps show lands Disney+ premiere date

Goosebumps on Disney+ will fittingly premiere on Friday, October 13.

Unlike the classic kids' anthology show that aired between 1995 and 1998, this adaptation of RL Stine's freaky books is one continuous tale stretched over 10 episodes, inspired by five horror stories.

"The series follows a group of five high-schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together – thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries and pasts with each other – in order to save it, learning much about their own parents' teenage secrets in the process," reads the synopsis.

In the first teaser trailer (above), youngsters played by Zack Morris (EastEnders), Ana Yi Puig (Gossip Girl) and Miles McKenna (Nocturne) are transfixed by something out of shot – their irises turned an eerie midnight black.

Scenes of horrifying intensity soon cut in and out, before the release date is revealed.

Morris appears as popular football prodigy Isaiah, who hides his family's money woes yet feels the pressure building as they hope he can score a college sponsorship.

Isa Briones of Star Trek: Picard fame is on board for the series too, playing a bookworm named Jane.

Once Halloween is out of the way, Disney+ subscribers can look forward to the arrival of Percy Jackson and the Olympians on December 20.

The first two episodes of the fantasy show come as a package, while the remaining instalments are scheduled for release on a weekly basis.

The series features one of the late Lance Reddick's final performances. The John Wick star passed away in March, and will be seen as Zeus, king of the gods.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
