Emmerdale's Tom King faces new backlash ahead of special episode

Tom King has faced a backlash at work ahead of a special Emmerdale episode this week.
The soap is planning a tense episode on Tuesday where Tom has work colleagues over for dinner, putting tremendous pressure on his wife Belle to plan the perfect evening.
This all comes about following the events in Monday's (May 6) episode, where Tom fell out with colleague Vanessa Woodfield at the vet's office.
Vanessa was forced to intervene when Tom made a huge error by wrongly diagnosing an elderly dog with cancer without performing all of the proper tests.
Vanessa figured out Tom's mistakes, and after running the correct procedure, was able to figure out that the dog just had an abscess.
Tom was embarrassed as Vanessa accused him of being a liability, and he later complained to Paddy and Rhona that she was making him feel unwelcome at the practice.
Tom was irate over the day's events once he got home, leaving Belle equally as unsettled as he referred to Vanessa as a "she-devil" and suggested she'd "poison" the office staff against him.
Tom surprised Belle by announcing he'd invited Rhona and Marlon over for dinner the following night, along with Paddy and Vanessa, to ensure he could keep his co-workers on his side.
"Tom, I've never cooked for that many people before," a nervous Belle admitted.
Tom shut her down: "Belle, I don't need problems, I need solutions. Tomorrow has to be perfect!"
The soap has already confirmed that Tom will show an even more terrifying side during this special dinner party episode, which will also examine cracks in Rhona and Marlon's marriage.
Emmerdale star James Chase has warned that Tom's abusive behaviour will only intensify in this pressure-filled environment.
"Tom is a master of performance, able to hide his true feelings and convey something very different to get people on his side," the actor said. "Also, Rhona and Marlon’s rising tension only helps to disguise Tom and Belle’s true situation."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
