Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.

Home and Away star Ethan Browne has spoken to Digital Spy about the change in direction for his character Tane Parata.

This week's episodes on UK screens have seen Tane secretly working undercover with the police in order to bring down Tex Wheeler and the biker gang.

In the past, the Parata family has always distrusted the police. However, Tane has taken a leap of faith by making an alliance with Rose Delaney.

Speaking to Digital Spy about his latest storyline, Ethan explained: "I've loved the new dynamic. Since Ari died, Tane has had to step up and take control of the family. I think he's done a brilliant job.

"I think Tane has so much more at stake now with Felicity and being the head of the family, plus not having his brothers there to have his back has made him change tack and really think about what's the safest option for himself and his loved ones.

"I guess Tane has seen working with the police as the most logical and safest option for everyone involved. His priority had always been the wellbeing of his family, and he sees this as the best option. Plus, he no longer has his older brothers to back him, so he feels he needs support.

"I think Tane is past the whole not trusting cops business. I guess there'll always be a little reservation with them, but for the most part he has matured and grown past that."

Ethan went on to praise Lucas Linehan, who plays Tane's nemesis Tex in the storyline.

He said: "Lucas is one of the most generous, kind and funny actors I've had the pleasure of working with. We always had a great laugh and joke on set between takes.

"I was actually at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) the same time as him – he was two years above me, so it was great to reconnect!"

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
