Famous hot chicken spot is giving out free sandwiches in Sacramento. Here’s when and where
Los Angeles-based chicken chain Dave’s Hot Chicken is giving away free sandwiches across the U.S., including Sacramento.
You won’t be able to simply walk up and get free food, but the process is simple.
Los Angeles customers who download the fast food franchise’s newly launched self-titled app in time for their sixth anniversary on Tuesday can get a free slider in the store’s parking lot.
Why the parking lot? Because it’s nostalgic.
“We wouldn’t be here without your love and support, as a special thank you, we’d like to celebrate by feeding you at the parking lot pop-up that started it all,” the fast food franchise wrote to its more than 800,000 Instagram followers.
Sacramento residents won’t be fed outside, that’s exclusive to Los Angeles customers. Instead, walk into your nearest spicy chicken location, show the app and get a free sandwich.
The offer ends Tuesday, May 2. Customers can redeem their reward through Sunday, May 7, according to Dave’s Hot Chicken.
The restaurant, known for its fried finger food, started in 2017 with four childhood friends and less than $1,000.
The then “scrappy late-night” Hollywood pop-up now has more than 700 locations across the U.S. and Canada with an additional 60 locations coming this year, according to a February statement.
The Sacramento area has three hot chicken locations, including its newly-opened store in Fair Oaks in the Madison Marketplace. Opened in February, the restaurant features a drive-thru, indoor seating and artwork inspired by the state’s capital.
There’s also a spicy chicken spot in Arden Arcade and Folsom.
The meat is cooked to order using seven different spice levels ranging from “no spice” to “reaper,” which requires a signed waiver from the customer.
How to get a free sandwich from Dave’s Hot Chicken
Download the free “Dave’s Hot Chicken” app, available on the App Store and Google Play Store, and get a free sandwich on Tuesday at your nearest location.
If you decided to keep the app after next week, you can earn points for every dollar you spend and eventually swap them for more free food, according to Dave’s Hot Chicken.
Earn 300 points and get a free drink or side like fries, macaroni and cheese or kale slaw.
Save up 600 points and get a free shake or an order of cheese fries, slider or tender. — or 1,200 points for a free meal.

Dave’s Hot Chicken has locations at 3409 Arden Way in Arden Arcade, 2379 Iron Point Road in Folsom and 8810 Madison Ave. in Fair Oaks.
