Father and son arrested after roommate killed at east Wichita apartment, official says

A father and son have been arrested after a shooting that killed their 25-year-old roommate at an east Wichita apartment complex, according to additional details Wichita police released Tuesday from Monday’s homicide.

Sebastian Crawford died at the scene, police said. In online records, the victim’s name is spelled Sebastion.

Both people arrested remained jailed Tuesday afternoon.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder; a 50-year-old man on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm not used in the commission of a crime and being a fugitive from justice. The possession of a firearm charge is under the same case number that his son was arrested for second-degree murder.

Police were called to the shooting at 11:08 a.m. Monday at the Village Park Rockborough Apartments, which is near Douglas and Rock.

Crawford was shot one time.

On Tuesday, police spokesperson Andrew Ford said police are still trying to determine what led to the shooting.

Police previously said the victim and suspect got into an argument before the shooting.

“Multiple other individuals, including two juveniles, were located inside the apartment,” police said in a Monday news release. “One adult female was transported to an area hospital to be evaluated for a condition unrelated to the shooting.”

Photos online show Crawford had a young daughter.

This was at least the city’s 24th homicide this year, according to police reports. There were 19 at this time last year.
