Friday roundup: Beaufort, Hilton Head Christian, Whale Branch pick up wins
A roundup of Lowcountry high school scores from Friday night plus scores from around South Carolina.
Beaufort 42, Bluffton 36: Jadyn Andrews rushed for 184 yards and five touchdowns as Beaufort built up a big league before holding on to a late Bluffton comeback. Beaufort led 42-14 after three quarters before the Bobcats made a final quarter charge.
Quarterback Samari Bonds had 104 yards passing and rushed for 107 yards, a TD for Beaufort.
Bluffton backup quarterback Jaden Young threw three touchdown passes to Brandon Bryant in the final quarter. Bryant finished with 14 catches for 344 yards and four TDs.
Hilton Head Christian Academy 36, Beaufort Academy 16: Quarterback Dylan Clark threw four touchdown passes and ran for one as HHCA handed Beaufort Academy its first loss of the season.
Hilton Head Christian led 15-9 at halftime but broke it open with Clark’s three touchdown passes. in the third quarter.
Devin Fripp had a TD catch for BA.
Cane Bay 7, May River 0: May River completed a pass on the final play of the game but was tackled at the one as Cane Bay held on for the shutout victory.
Cane Bay scored the game’s only touchdown on a 3-yard run with two minutes in the second quarter.
Whale Branch 45, Battery Creek 12: The Warriors trailed 12-0 early but moved to 4-0 on the season with a win over the Dolphins. KJ Chisholm and Bradford Thompson had long touchdown runs in the second half as the Warriors pulled away with 32 points after halftime.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville 38, Bethune Bowman 16: The Jaguars got their third win with a victory over Bethune Bowman. It’s the first time since 2017 that RH has won at least three games in a season.
Pee Dee Academy 35, Hilton Head Prep 14: PDA got rushing touchdowns from Colby Richardson, Tristan Hickman, Miles Trussell and Will Bass in the win over HHP.
Florence Christian 42, John Paul II 7: Juels Huntley ran for three touchdowns as Florence Christian defeated the Warriors. Josh Davis had a rushing TD and a defensive score for FC.
