Gayle King isn’t afraid to let her guard down when it comes to Lenny Kravitz.

During an interview with the musician, 59, for CBS Mornings, the broadcast journalist, 59, and new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model didn’t shy away from letting her interests be known.

“Asking for a friend — Is there love in your life, do you have a significant other in your life? And can I beat her ass if she is?' King jokingly asked Kravitz in the sit-down, that aired on Thursday, May 23.

“Oops, did I say that out loud?,” she said with a laugh.

Caught by surprise, Kravitz — who is releasing his 12th studio album Blue Electric Light and turning 60 on May 26 — smiled and laughed as he responded to the host.

"Wow," the rockstar said, to which King teased, “And I'm non-violent, Lenny Kravitz!"

After the pair completed their laughter, King continued to ask about the star’s dating life. “But do you have a partner? Do you have love in your life?,” she asked.

“Right now I'm just open," said the rockstar, who will kick off his Las Vegas residency at the Dolby Live at Park MGM in October.

Asked if he's "even looking," Kravitz appeared to hint at his desires for love. “It's hard not to look,” the “Fly Away” singer said. ”You know when you desire something you're looking for it, right? But I find that when you don't look is when you find it.”

“And I'm at a place where I've said this for several years, ‘I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready,' " he added. "I wasn't ready. I thought I was ready, right? But I can say that I've never felt how I feel now."

"That's how I feel, too," King said as they shook hands. "Here's to us Lenny Kravitz!"

While Kravitz is usually private about his love life, he was previously married to actress Lisa Bonet from November 1987 to 1993. The pair met in an elevator during a concert in 1985 and went on to welcome daughter Zoë together in 1988.

The star also dated actress Nicole Kidman in 2003 with Kidman revealing in 2017 that they were once engaged. “Well, I knew Zoë because I was engaged to her father. It’s all in the family!,” Kidman told NET-A-PORTER.com’s magazine, The EDIT at the time. “I love Lenny; he’s a great guy.”

“It just wasn’t right,” she told Vanity Fair of the secret engagement in 2007. “I wasn’t ready. We weren’t ready.”

Meanwhile, King was previously married to William Bumpus, whom she shares two adult children: daughter Kirby and son Will. The former couple divorced in 1993 after she caught him in bed with another woman in 1990.

Opening up about dating in an episode of The Pivot Podcast in January, the broadcaster opened up about men finding her success and friendship with Oprah Winfrey intimidating.

“Somebody said to me once, ‘Gayle, look at your shoes ... look at your bag, look at your coat. You’re friends with Oprah [Winfrey].’ A guy looks at that and says, ‘I can’t compete with that,’” she said. “But my thing is, it’s not a matter of competing. I’m not looking for someone to compete.”

She continued, “You want somebody who has a sense of humor, who’s very secure, who’s not intimidated by whatever all of this is, that just sees you for you.”
